THE NEW WEDDING SHOP AT DSW

Have you heard? DSW has a new wedding shop

The shoes are broken out into 3 groups - bride, bridesmaid, and mother of the bride, and are displayed at 7 different angles, so that you get a full 360 degree view of each shoe . I am definitely not a fan of brides feeling like they need to wear white or ivory shoes on their wedding day, and think that colorful shoes are the perfect way to add a little kick to your wedding day wear (I wore orange satin slingbacks).

So, if you're like me, check out the bridesmaid section, which offers a variety of colors, and for those of you who would rather play it safe, there are still tons of beautiful white and ivory options in the bride section. And the best part? They are all under $100! Some of my favorites are below.

WEDDING VENUE SPOTLIGHT - REBAR

I had the pleasure of touring one of the most unique wedding venues I've ever been in on Tuesday night. It's a great space called reBar in Dumbo (Brooklyn, NY), and could be the perfect fit for a couple who is looking for something different and offbeat.

The architecture is breathtaking, the food (of which I happily ate 4 delicious courses) is unbelievable, and the price is better than almost every other venue in New York - you can get married for $9,999 on a Sunday, and that includes a DJ and flowers!

When you meet the founder, Jason Stevens, you'll be immediate friends because his thirst for life is contagious - he has so much energy and passion for what he does, that not only will you want to get married at his venue, you'll also want to take lessons from him on how to live life to the fullest.

reBar fits wedding parties of up to 200, has custom packages for food and drink (even though they already have 15 taps!), and has a theatre that can be utilized as your late night party spot, bridal suite, third bar, or babysitting room. This venue is definitely one to watch.

Check them out online and set up an in-person appointment - you will not be disappointed.

Thank you to Stella Inserra of Simply Dazzling Events and the Association of Bridal Consultants for a great event! And a special thanks to Feuza Reis, a talented photographer and social expert, who gave an informative and fun (I won a t-shirt!) presentation on understanding social media and SEO strategies.

NEW YORK WEDDINGS EVENT - TICKETS ON SALE!

Tickets just went on sale for this years' New York Weddings Event! I've been to many, many bridal events and this is, by far, the best one ever. I look forward to it every year and snatch my tickets as soon as they are available - you should too!

The best of the best vendors will be there (more than 100 of them), from photographers and videographers, to dress designers and dance studios, to bands and DJs - the list goes on and on, and I promise that you will not be disappointed.

And the best part is, you can enjoy complimentary cocktails and snacks as you watch demonstrations, chat with vendors, and get creative ideas for your big day. It is so inspiring just to be there in the presence of so many wedding experts, and the gift bag isn't too bad either - they're only available while supplies last, so get there early - they are worth it!

And now for all the important details....
When:            Wednesday, March 30th / 5-8pm
Where:           Metropolitan Pavilion / 125 West 18th Street, New York, NY
How:              Buy tickets online - $40 for 1 / $60 for 2 (grab a friend)

I LOVE SATURDAY

So with it being Saturday and all, I thought it would be the perfect time to give a very grateful shout out to my friends at Saturday, a small graphic design studio from the big apple, for the amazing work they did on my brand identity, stationary, and web site design

Peter DiBartolo and Christine Capelli are two of the most talented designers I know, and I had a blast working with them to come up with the personality behind the name, Ruffles & Tweed. Not only are they a lot of fun, but also true professionals who take the time to ensure that every piece of art they create is completely customized to the company and people it is meant to promote.

I will be forever grateful to them for bringing Ruffles & Tweed to life. I love Saturday, and I hope you will too - check them out!

WELCOME & HAPPY NEW YEAR!

I am thrilled to finally be starting my own blog after guest blogging on WeddingWindow.com for the past year and a half, and am even more thrilled for the start of my event design and coordination company, Ruffles and Tweed.

I owe it all to the extremely talented Owner and Creative Director of True Event, Sarah True, and the amazingly creative and inspiring Owner of Chocolate Creative Design, Lucinda Wesson, who also just launched a lovely blog, glitter, glue & fireflies

My journey into the fabulous world of wedding planning started about 3 years ago – I was in the process of planning my own wedding and loving every second of it, when one of my dearest and oldest friends, Elizabeth Spatafora, suggested that I contact Sarah, who we both went to college with, since she was involved in wedding planning and could be a good source of inspiration (Liz, thank you from the bottom of my heart for that little push that has blossomed into something I never expected).

The rest is history – that single act led to the most amazing 3 years of working and collaborating with both Sarah and Lucinda at a variety of breathtaking venues in Connecticut, including my all-time favorite, Island Farm on Elihu Island – the most magical place to get married. And thanks to Lucinda’s faith in me, I am now the Coordinator/Designer for Elihu – I couldn’t be more ecstatic, thankful, blessed, and optimistic for this incredible opportunity.

So, thank you for joining me as I share my adventures in wedding planning, highlights from the Island weddings, and all things that inspire me – from photography, to fashion, to life in general.

I highly encourage feedback, so comment away! You can also reach me at adrienne@rufflesandtweed.com.
